The Christian God of "Context context context!" An Idol of the heart. [Oct. 10th, 2013|12:26 pm]

L.Ray Smith on the Christian "God of context."

"Do you have even the slightest clue as to what you mean when you say that "most scripture references are taken out of context?" I have heard people parrot, parrot, parrot, that slogan for many years now, and I am convinced that most of them have not a clue as to what it really means. To most Christians who criticize my writings, anything that I quote from a Scripture is "out of context." it matter not what it is. I John 4:8 tells us that, "GOD IS LOVE." Now no one has ever accused me of taking that phrase "God is love" out of context, but only because they do not want to look doubly stupid. Are we to "Love God and Love Neighbor" ONLY IN CONTEXT? The context is clear: It is an OLD Testament quotation, under the LAW of Moses, to Israel only. Therefore to suggest that we ought to do this today is to "take that statement or command OUT OF CONTEXT." And don't tell me I am being silly. One day the whole Christian world is going to have to bitterly repent of worshiping this theological "god of context, context, context." It is maybe the biggest "idol of the heart" taught in modern theological cemeteries (that a school of Scriptural studies where they bury the truth)." - L.Ray Smith
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now here are some things the scriptures have to say about rightly dividing the Word (However, without the spirit of God, it is a futile endeavor).

Isaiah 28:10 "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"

Isaiah 28:13 "But the WORD OF THE LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; HERE A LITTLE AND THERE A LITTLE [welp there goes context!]; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken"

Psalm 119:160 "The SUM of Thy word [is] truth."

Paul in 2Co 13:1 "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established."

II Pet. 1:20 "That no prophecy of scripture at all is becoming its OWN explanation." (You need witnesses, two or three!)

1 Corinthians 2:12-14 "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but THE SPIRIT WHICH IS OF GOD; that we might KNOW the things that are freely given to us of God [ Such as the truths of His Word, SCRIPTURE]. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; COMPARING SPIRITUAL THINGS WITH SPIRITUAL [ TWO OR THREE WITNESSES!]. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, BECAUSE THEY ARE SPIRITUAL DISCERNED."

2 Corinthians 4:8 [Sep. 25th, 2013|07:45 pm]
Bible Truths

lilitalienboi16
Question: Anyone have any thoughts on this verse. Here temporary and aionious are contrasted, with what seems to be the intent of lasting for ever. What am I missing in my interpretation of aionious?

2Cr 4:18 we not looking to the things seen, but to the things not seen; for the things seen are temporary, but the things not seen are age-during.

Aionios is the adjective of the noun aion, and as such it must mean "that which pertains to ages." It could be one or many ages, just as the adjective "hourly" pertains to hours. It could be pertaining to only one, but it could also be pertaining to very many hours. But it must pertain to hours, and not weeks, months, centuries, eternities, forevers etc...

Now what paul is doing here is a little more clear if you look at an earlier verse:

Verse 14 "Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus SHALL RAISE UP US ALSO by Jesus, and shall present us with you."

We know those that are raised and apart of the first Resurrection will have the great honor and glory -- that far outweighs anything seen now in this age -- to reign with Christ as kings and judge the world and the angels.

Revelation 20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and SHALL REIGN WITH HIM A THOUSAND YEARS."

Now paul informs us that these "light afflictions" which are temporary are responsible for our aionion glory to come: A very reason for our glory and reign to come.

Verse 17 "Four our light affliction, which is but for a moment [this is temporary, and this is what Paul tells us we are NOW OBSERVING in verse 18], works for us a far more exceeding and AIONIOS weight of glory."

So in the verse you quoted, paul is telling us that these things we see now (these "afflictions") are temporary but they will bring us, as of yet unseen, THE FUTURE EXCEEDING WEIGHT OF GLORY.

When will it happen? In the Resurrection, the -first- resurrection: when we will be GLORIFIED WITH CHRIST. For all eternity? No, during the oncoming ages! How do we know not for all eternity? Because Christ's reign comes to an end and so does ours. Read it for yourself.

1 Corinthians 15:24-25 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, UNTIL he hath put all enemies under his feet.

1 Corinthians 15:28 "And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall THE SON SHALL ALSO SUBJECT HIMSELF UNTO him that put all things under him, that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL."

And so this is why paul calls this as of yet unseen weight of future glory (Being kings and priests in Christ's Kingdom) as aionion because it really does only last for as long as Christ's reigns and that ends when all enemies are put under his feet. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with invisible spiritual things being "eternal" as the king james attempts to suggest (though i'm not saying they aren't, just that this passage has nothing to do with that), or, as some detractors would have people believe, as making spiritual things temporal if we retain the integrity and true meaning of Aionion/Aion as God had inspired His Word to read.

Hope this helps clarify what may appear to be some ambiguity.

Matt 5:46 [Sep. 25th, 2013|07:42 pm]
Bible Truths

lilitalienboi16
Question: "In matt 5v46.."And these shall go away into age-abiding correction, But the righteous into age-abiding life." Rotherham's Bible... Are both "age-abiding" actually temperary, not " eternal"? I don't see the diffrence in the 'time frame' between these two, the ones on his left, and the ones on his right."

Answer:

The simple and profound truth is that Christ never promised us anything more than Aionion life. We were never promised eternal life. With this in mind, judgement is not eternal either. Judgement comes to an end, as does the aionion life; However, does this mean that we suddenly stop existing? No. Why? Well let's listen to Paul:

1 Corinthians 15:53-54 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on IMMORTALITY. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on IMMORTALITY, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Well there you have it. There is your answer. Paul informs us that in the resurrection we are promised IMMORTALITY. But Immortality has nothing to do with time or eternity. The word means DEATH-LESS-NESS. WITHOUT DEATH. NEVER TO BE DYING. So we continue to exist because we have immortality and are no longer subject to death. We cannot die!

Now, after the consummation of the ages, the ages end. Our life does not end (Why? because we have immortality), but our "aonian" life does end. One cannot be living "for the ages" WHEN THERE ARE NO MORE AGES.

I Cor. 10:11 "But, these things, by way of type, were happening unto them, and were written with a view to our admonition, unto whom, THE ENDS OF THE AGES, have reached along [HAVE COME]." (The KJV translates this as the end of the WORLD however the WORD in greek is; "Aion" and NOT "kosmos" which is the greek word for world.)

We are also promised rulership with Christ in His Kingdom, and Christ rules for the "eons" not for eternity.

Revelation 20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and SHALL REIGN WITH HIM A THOUSAND YEARS."

Jesus reigns only UNTIL He puts all rule and enemies under His feet. We also stop reigning at that time.

So we continue to live after the reign, the aionion life, because we have been given "immortality" (I Cor. 15:53) and not because we ever had "eternal life."

Furthermore, the holy spirit inspired the Word of God to read as "Aionion punishment and Aionion life" for a reason. If God wanted to tell us that people who were not "saved" would be "tortured" forever, He would have just said "whose torture or torment would be NO END." That is how God qualifies things that last and never end in the scriptures and there are very few places where He uses this type of language. Here is one example of where we see this language used;

Isaiah 9:7 "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be NO END."

Luke 1:33 "And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be NO END."

This is some profound and deep stuff yet it is also very simple if we just believe the scriptures. Hope this better equips you to understand why it is you believe, what you believe.

With love,

Alex

To all those hurting [Apr. 2nd, 2013|07:17 pm]

For every hurting soul out there, this posts for you. May you find some encouragement.

(Please listen to this song as you read.)

Frodo: "I can't do this, Sam."

Sam: "I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something."

Frodo: "What are we holding onto, Sam?"

Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.”

Psalm 23:4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. "

Isaiah 41:13 "For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I WILL help you."

Joshua 1:3-9  "I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you ... No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you."

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. "

Matthew 28:20 "lo, I [JESUS] am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Proverbs 3:11-12 "My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth."

Hebrews 12:5-7 "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, DESPISE NOT thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: FOR WHOM THE LORD LOVETH he chasteneth, and scourgeth EVERY SON whom he receiveth. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?"

Acts 14:22 "Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that WE MUST THROUGH MUCH TRIBULATION enter into the kingdom of God."

John 16:33 "These things Have I spoken unto you, that ye might have peace. For in this world ye SHALL HAVE tribulations: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Lyrics:

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace

Comfort for family, protection while we sleep

We pray for healing, for prosperity

We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

And all the while, You hear each spoken need

Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears

What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near

What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?

We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear

And we cry in anger when we cannot feel you near

We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love

As if each promise from Your Word is not enough

And all the while, You hear each desperate plea

And long that we'd have faith to believe

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears

What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near

What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?

When friends betray us

When darkness seems to win, we know

That pain reminds this hearts,

That this is not, this is not our home.....

It's not our home

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears

What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near

What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?

What if my greatest disappointments,

Or the aching of this life,

Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy.

What if trials of this life,

The rain, the storms, the hardest nights

Are your mercies in disguise?

:)

God be with you,

Mark Schultz is an amazing author and musician. His lyrics are always so up lifting, filled with hope and almost always scriptural!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIIAf2lS_Us

Mark Schultz - Love has come

Well, I know this life is filled with sorrow
And there are days when the pain just lasts and lasts
But I know there will come a day
When all our tears are washed away with a break in the clouds
His glory coming down and in that moment

Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
That God is love and love has come for us all
Every heart set free, every one will see
That God is love and love has come for us all

For anybody who has ever lost a loved one
And you feel like you had to let go too soon
I know it hurts to say goodbye
But don't you know it's just a matter of time till the tears are gonna end
You'll see them once again and in that moment

Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
That God is love and love has come for us all
Every heart set free, every one will see
That God is love and love has come for us all

Oh, and on that day we will stand amazed
At our Savior, God and King
Just to see the face of amazing grace
As our hearts rise up and sing

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Thank You for the cross
Singing glory, glory, hallelujah
Christ has paid the cost

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Thank You for the cross
Singing glory, glory
Christ has paid the cost

And every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
That God is love and love has come for us all
Every heart set free, every one will see
That God is love and love has come for us all

Love has come for us all
Love has come for us all

And every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
God is love and love has come for us all
Every heart set free, every one will see
God is love and love has come for us all

Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
God is love and love has come for us all
Every heart set free, every one will see
God is love and love has come for us all

Bible Truths

I really hope this picture gets you to think about just what it is you teach, preach and believe every time you smear God's character with the blasphemous doctrine of eternal damnation.

Wickedmenwithpervertedminds

burning-man

Look at this picture, look at it for a long time, for a whole day. I DARE YOU, because THIS is what you are teaching will happen for ALL ETERNITY yet you can't even stand to look at this image for a few minutes can you? CAN YOU? Well? Be honest with yourself! That's a REAL PERSON who is BURNING TO DEATH. That is a real image, there flesh is melting off them, they are in agony, screaming as their lungs are incinerated by the heat and fumes. You really think about this happening for all eternity to someone. THINK ABOUT IT IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE THIS. I want you to know that you are SICK inside the head if you believe this is love, justice or whatever other excuse you make up in your mind to blaspheme THE Creator.

THINK about what it is YOU REALLY believe.

REMEMBER ALWAYS:

"God is love" (I john 4:8)

"Charity [LOVE]... thinketh no evil." (I Cor 13:4-5)

"The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works." (Psalm 145:9)

"
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES!" (Matt 5:44)

"For with God nothing is impossible." (Luke. 1:37)

NOTHING includes saving ALL of His Precious creation Dear reader! Don't you doubt Him! Don't you doubt His power and love for one second! He's far greater than you and I could ever imagine.

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (I tim 2:3-4).

Until next time dear reader.

God's Fire and the Salvation of All [Feb. 28th, 2013|04:44 pm]
Bible Truths

lilitalienboi16
Is Jesus really the Saviour of the World or Just some of It?
By Alex Mokbel

Intro

How many Christians are aware of scriptural verses like this;

Ps 22:27-28 “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nation shall WORSHIP before thee. For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.”

Isa. 25:6 "And in this mountain SHALL the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined."

Eph.1:10 "That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:"

Col1:20 "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."

1 Cor. 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."

The saddest and most tragic thing to ever happen to the name of Jesus is that He has been so misrepresented by the very people that claim to be His. Why do so many Christians think that God uses real fire to torture people in a place called hell that will last forever and ever and ever without night or day? Don't people ever stop to wonder what fire and brimstone was used for back during the time of the Greeks and Jesus' time? Don't people ever stop and wonder why so many verses in the bible proclaim, "Jesus the Savior of the whole world," like the tiny fraction of them I Just listed? Don't people ever stop and wonder to think that maybe Fire is used to cleanse and not torture? Do people ever wonder if maybe God's Judgment serve a purpose other than to condemn people to an eternity of fiery torture? A good purpose maybe? Do people really think God is some hypocrite who commands His own people to love their enemies but will be unwilling and incapable of loving His when the time comes for it? Do people ever stop and think that maybe, just maybe, the words hell and eternal are mis-translated from the Greek to Latin to English? Don't Christians ever wonder why the Jews have zero concept of a fiery place of torture called hell, yet Jesus who was of Jewish decent and the God who doesn't change, suddenly comes out of the blue and is supposedly preaching this magical new place? Why didn't He warn the jews about such a place in the old testament before seeing as it is so evil and aweful? Don't christians ever find that just a bit strange?

Part 1 – What is God's fire used for?

What does God do with fire? Do the scriptures actually tell us anywhere what He uses His fire for? Some of you may be surprised to read this but God uses His fire even when dealing with believers.

1 Peter 1:7 "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:"

Is the trying with fire limited only to believers though?

Mark 9:49 "For EVERYONE shall be salted with FIRE, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt."

No it is not. Notice everyone is salted with fire and it is the same fire that peter spoke of in the previous verse. It is God's Fire. There aren't two different kinds of fire in scripture. No where in scripture is there any indication of two different fires, it's all one.

Hebrews 12:29 "for our God is a consuming fire.”

Deuteronomy 4:24 "For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God."

Notice in the lake of FIRE the presence of someone very special.

Revelation 14:10 "he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb."

Yes, contrary to popular opinion, the lake of fire, "hell" as my modern detractors would have it, is not the separation from God or absence from Him but torment by His very presence  Remember He is a consuming fire? Remember the lake burns with FIRE? Remember it is in HIS PRESENCE?

So how exactly is God using this fire on believers and non believers? Does God use this same, "one" fire in two different ways depending on who He is dealing with? The answer may surprise you!

Let's listen to what Paul has to say.

1 Cor. 3:11-12 “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;”

So Paul informs us that upon the foundation that is Jesus, we build with wood hay, stubble, gold, silver etc..

  • Note: It is important to realize that while believers build upon the foundation that is Jesus, everyone has works. The act of building upon a metephorical foundation is known as "work" and it is not simply restricted to believers.

1 Corinthinas 3:13 "Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day [Judgment day] shall declare it, because IT SHALL BE REVEALED BY FIRE; and the fire shall try every man's WORK of what sort it is."

This building upon the foundation is referred to as "work" and it is this work that the FIRE tries. God isn't using literal fire on physical bodies or spiritual bodies here. He's using His spiritual fire and he's using it on the "works." So when Paul mentions wood, hay, stubble, silver and gold he's talking about the works of every man, more specifically the character flaws and traits of people. The wood hay and stubble are BURNED UP by the FIRE and the GOLD and SILVER are REFINED, PURIFIED. God is burning up the bad works in you and refining and purifying the good works. In other words, God is refining you into His precious child that will one day be like him. God is making one big family and you're going to be apart of it. A precious part entirely unique, shaped and molded by your experiences in this life.

  • 1. HISTORY NOTE - EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH: These, if they will, may go Christ's way, but if not let them go their way. In another place perhaps they shall be baptized with fire, that last baptism, which is not only painful, but enduring also; which eats up, as if it were hay, all defiled matter, and consumes all vanity and vice. --Gregory of Nazianzeu, Bishop of Constantinople. (330 to 390 A.D.) Oracles 39:19

So notice above that both Peter and Jesus talked about the fire trying. First believers through peter and then Jesus teaching us that this fire isn't just restricted to believers but rather to everyone. Sinner and Saint alike. Notice also that paul continues on this idea by going into just what exactly is God doing with the fire and what He is using it on.

In revelations we get the same picture that we got from paul in corinthians. It is in judgement that God tries people with fire. More specifically you have probably heard; the lake of fire. Remember though, It's God's fire (Remember how Jesus is present in the lake? Rev 14:10)  and you'll see in revelations that this idea of fire trying mans work is kept in tact.

Revelation 20:13 "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and HELL delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were JUDGED EVERY MAN according to their WORKS."

Revelation 22:12 "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, TO GIVE EVERY MAN ACCORDING AS HIS WORK SHALL BE."

We are plainly told in revelations that those in "hell" the "Dead" are judged by their works. Most of you would have no problem confessing that those in “hell” are the “non believers,” correct? So we see here that even they are judged according to their works which goes hand in hand with what paul said and with what Jesus said about "everyone shall be salted with fire."

So what did we say this fire accomplishes? It refines the good works and burns up the bad works! Do we see this concept anywhere else in scripture? Yes we do.

Malachi 3:2-3 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:And he shall sit as a refiner and PURIFIER OF SILVER: and HE SHALL PURIFY the sons of Levi, and PURGE THEM AS GOLD AND SILVER, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

As you can see, this concept of using fire to purify and purge is not an uncommon concept for God. He uses His fire not to torture and burn but to refine and try.

Now even though Zecheriah is a reference to the elect of God it still applies to us here because we are trying to understand how God uses His fire and this gives us a pretty good idea of what God uses fire for.

Zechariah 13:9 "And I will bring the third part THROUGH THE FIRE, and will REFINE THEM as SILVER is refined, and will TRY THEM as GOLD is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I WILL SAY, IT IS MY PEOPLE: and they shall say, The LORD is my God."

So let's get back to Paul now. We see that fire is used to refine, purify and try our works like silver and gold, wood hay and stubble etc..

Corinthians 3:14-15 "If ANY MAN'S WORK abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If ANY MAN's WORK shall be BURNED, HE SHALL SUFFER LOSS: but HE HIMSELF shall be SAVED; yet so as BY FIRE."

Remember how every man in revelation is tried by his work? Look at how this trying of the work by fire ultimately ends. Even though a man suffers loss, even though HE IS BURNED, he is ultimately SAVED IN THE END, BY THE VERY FIRE THAT BURNED HIM!

Now let's tie these two thoughts here and put the final nail in this coffin. We saw in Zecheriah how specifically, God's elect, pass through the fire to be able to call upon the Lord. We saw in Corinthians how the fire is what saves a man even if he is burned by it. Now notice how the whole earth, the world, will also be consumed by God's fire and notice that the ultimate conclusion of this consummation by fire is the calling upon the Lord by all people with one consent. In other words, Zephaniah echoes what Zechariah teaches us and applies it to the whole world.

Zephaniah 3:8-9  "Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until THE DAY [judgement day] that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for ALL THE EARTH SHALL BE DEVOURED WITH THE FIRE of my jealousy. For THEN will I TURN TO THE PEOPLE a pure language, that THEY MAY ALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD, TO SERVE HIM with ONE consent."

Now we know that everyone is tried with fire. Regardless of whether you're a believer or non believer and we know it's the same fire. We also know that in judgement God uses this fire not to burn people but to try the peoples works. So what is the ultimate end of judgement though? We noticed in Zephaniah that the consuming of the whole earth by fire ultimately leads to the calling upon and serving of the Lord as one and we made the connection that trying by fire and judgement are essentially the same however let's hit this one home and remove any and all doubt that judgement is used for a good purpose and that it actually is responsible for the ultimate salvation of all humanity. One of the most profound verses in all of scripture;

Isaiah 26:9 “With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for WHEN THY JUDGEMENTS are in the earth, THE INHABITANTS OF THE WORLD will learn righteousness.”

Notice that it is when God has finally judged the world that the entire world, it's inhabitants learn righteousness. Do you know what righteousness means? It literally means, TO DO RIGHT. That is to say that the inhabitants of the world will learn to do right. Doesn't this sound a lot like what we read in Corinthians about how the fire burns up the bad works (the wood hay and stubble) but refines the gold and silver, the good works?

Isn't that amazing? If you're not as excited, amazed and blown away by our God's awesomeness as I am than I don't know what else I could possibly tell you to get you to see why our God is indeed ABOVE all others. He is unlike anything you ever dreamed.

Next time someone tells you God is going to torture those that haven't been blessed with the gift of faith that we have been given, you show them this verse;

Jeremiah 32:35 "And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to CAUSE their sons and their daughters TO PASS THROUGH THE FIRE unto Molech; WHICH I COMMANDED NOT, NEITHER CAME IT INTO MY MIND, that they should do this ABOMINATION, to cause Judah to sin."

Using fire to burn people is something that God never commanded nor ever entered His mind and God does NOT change. He will NEVER use FIRE to BURN/TORTURE people. EVER! He calls this act an ABOMINATION!

Remember;

1 John 4:14 “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of theworld.”

Don't you doubt john! Not even for a second! Jesus isn't the potential savior of the world or the savior of a small part of it. No, read again. He is the savior of the WORLD. The WHOLE THING! That's what His Father sent Him here to do! To SAVE THE WORLD! Unless you believe Jesus to be a failure then you have to believe He's going to save the world! Give Him the time to save it!

1 Timothy 2:3-4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

I hope this helps someone's understanding just a little. We've barely scratched the surface here so I know this might open up more questions than it does answers but I want to show you that there is more than meets the eye to the fire of God's judgments. Do yourself a huge favor and always believe the scriptures, especially over the words of man! I shared with you many great scripures so hold on to those Words because they are God's Words and not mine!

I plan to revise this in the future and go more in depth but I just wanted to get this up and out there online. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask, it might give me some more material to write about or add to this specific paper. Oh, if you happen to catch any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes, please let me know! I'm a horrible speller >.>Thanks and thank you for reading.

Until next time!
God bless,

Alex

P.S. If you wanted to know what Fire and brimstone was used for during the time of Jesus, here is an excerpt from a site on the history of brimstone;

  • 2. HISTORY NOTE - FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: Sulphur was used by pagan priests 2,000 years before the birth of Christ. Pre-Roman civilizations used burned brimstone as a medicine and used "bricks" of sulphur as fumigants, bleaching agents, and incense in religious rites. Pliny (23-27 A.D.) Reported that sulphur was a "most singular kind of earth and an agent of great power on other substances," and had "medicinal virtues" (Cunningham 1935:17). The Romans used sulphur or fumes from its combustion as an insecticide and to purify a sick room and cleanse its air of evil (Cunningham 1935).

Is the lake of fire burning with fire and brimstone making a little more sense to you now? Here is a short video that I will share in my next installment of this series; A video on the views of the early Christian church and hell (6 minutes, it's short!)

Mercy Me - You are I am

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JI4CPfuLW0

I've been the one to shake with fear
And wonder if You're even here
I've been the one to doubt Your love
I've told myself You're not enough
I've been the one to try and say
I'll overcome by my own strength
I've been the one to fall apart
And to start to question who You are
You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am
I've been the one held down in chains
Beneath the weight of all my shame
I've been the one to believe
That where I am You cannot reach
You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am
The veil is torn
And now I live with the Spirit inside
The same one, the very same one
who brought the Son back to life
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am

Good people and bad things? [Feb. 19th, 2013|06:41 pm]
Bible Truths

lilitalienboi16
For all you kids out there who wonder why bad things happen, why is evil necessary in this world, what kind of a god would subject his creation to such a universe? Well put it into this perspective because it's one of truth. Your experiences [that includes the bad ones!] shape who you are and who you will be and it is often time in our darkest hours that we, our character, is tried and the things which cannot stand the test of that fire are burned away but the good qualities which are precious like gold and silver are refined and purified unto the revealing of a better, stronger person. To the glory of The One who subject us to it. Of course, there are always exceptions ;)

Anyway, without further a do!

"We work hard to disown the parts of our lives that were painful, difficult, or sad. But just as we can’t rip chapters out of a book and expect the story to still make sense, so we cannot rip chapters out of our past and expect our lives to still make sense. Keep every chapter of your life intact, and keep on turning the pages. Sooner or later you’ll understand why every scene, every chapter was needed."
—Sandra Kring

Ecc 1:13 "I applied my heart to inquiring and exploring by wisdom concerning all that is done under the heavens:it is an experience of evil Elohim [God] has given to the sons of humanity to humble them by it."

Remember, it was a tree of knowledge of good AND evil. God didn't separate out the two, one from the other, but rather placed the two into one experience and if you want to get to the tree of life then you have to go through the flaming sword which guards it.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Heb 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Act 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
One day, when you're looking back on the whole of your life, you'll understand why all those "chapters" were needed.

Rev 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

So likewise, will you too hear behind you, and look, and finally understand why Jesus Christ subjected you to all the experiences you had to experience, a tree that was not just one of good but one of evil as well.

Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw...

And perhaps like john, you too will turn and look back on your life to see the Son of Man in the midst of it all.

God bless,

Alex
